What YOU can do to help the IBA program!
Volunteer Opportunities
TOP CURRENT NEED:
We need someone to design a permanent multi-use structure for
Panola Mountain State Park. This structure would serve as a bird
banding station, an outdoor classroom, a lunch stopover for
those conducting conservation work, and a wildlife viewing area.
It would have to have wheelchair access and lockable storage,
and be aesthetically pleasing.
Some other ways you can help:
Enter data in eBird – it would be great if you would enter ALL
your bird sightings, but please at least consider entering data
for IBAs:
http://ebird.org/content/ebird/
Participate in Volunteer
Conservation Days.
Conduct a standardized bird census at an IBA. We need data on
all of our sites! Please contact Charlie Muise for details.
Help enter the data of other people – Most of us know an active
bird watcher who does not have time or internet access to enter
all of their data. There are also a lot of older folks who have
many years’ worth of important data in notebooks somewhere.
Offer to enter data for someone!
Help out at, or even organize a volunteer Conservation Activity
– From pulling invasive exotic plants, to maintaining an IBA
kiosk, to collecting warm season grass seeds, our IBAs need lots
of help. If you have a talent or interest, I can use your help!
Help fund our efforts. We are a 501(c)3, so donations are tax
deductible.
Help find and introduce us to potential donors
Help us to write grants
Help build and erect a kiosk at an IBA
Lead a bird trip to introduce people to your favorite IBA
