Eligible Images
To be eligible for the 2012 contest, the images must depict a
species of bird or animal whose known geographical range is at
least partially in the United States.
There is no restriction on when the photograph was taken.
Images of captive or trained birds or animals are not permitted
(i.e., raptors used for falconry or bird shows; birds or animals
that live in captivity in zoos, aviaries, private collections or
other displays).
An image that received an award (including honorable mention) in
a previous Atlanta Audubon Society Photo Contest is not
eligible.
Images must be submitted as JPEG files. The images may be in any
aspect ratio, but the size submitted should be no more than 4
Megabytes in file size.
The file names of the images may be in any format, so long as
they contain the name of the photographer and the name (species)
of the subject bird or animal in the filename.
Images may be processed by being cropped and by having color,
luminosity, contrast, noise reduction, sharpening, dust removal
and similar image optimization applied to all or a part of the
image.
Images may not be altered to remove any element or object, or
add any element or object that was not present in the original
image at the time of capture. Likewise, techniques that combine
elements of more than one camera exposure (i.e., HDR, time lapse
or other multi-exposure or multi-flash sequences) in a single
image are not permitted.
The AAS reserves the right to ask for a copy of the original
file generated by the digital camera (or the negative, if the
image was taken on film) to determine eligibility of any image
submitted.
Each photographer may enter up to 20 images.

What
Your Entry Means
AAS has the right to use winning images (1st, 2nd & 3rd place
photos in each category) for items and publications consistent
with AAS's mission. You grant AAS a perpetual, non-exclusive
license to use winning photos in any manner and in any medium,
including in or on items that AAS may sell for fundraising
purposes.
Photographers retain ownership of their images and may use or
sell them, but may not revoke the non-exclusive license granted
to AAS for winning photos.
AAS will publish the winning photographs and the names and
cities and states of residence of the photographers who
submitted those images. AAS will always, to the greatest extent
possible, credit the photographer in connection with the use of
winning images. If AAS desires to use non-winning photos, AAS
will always gain permission from the photographer prior to their
use.
By entering images in the contest, you represent to the AAS that
you have the full rights to the images and that your submission
of the images to the contest does not infringe on the rights of
any other person.
By entering images in the contest, you also represent that no
birds or wildlife were harassed or harmed in connection with the
photograph being taken.
If one or more of your images is selected as a winner in the
contest, you agree to provide the AAS with a copy of the
original image as it was recorded by the digital camera (or the
negative, if the image was taken on film), which will be used
for any printing or display of the image.
The AAS
reserves the right to determine eligibility of all images for
the contest in its sole discretion.
