AAS Shorebird Workshop

Field Trip: Friday-Sunday, May 11-13, 2012 on the Georgia Coast.

Willet - James F Flynn Jr.Get ready for Atlanta Audubon’s Shorebird Workshop, May 11th, 12th, & 13th, 2012. Once again AAS is scheduling this workshop to coincide with the spawning of horseshoe crabs and shorebird migration on our Georgia Coast.

The two part workshop consists of a class session on Shorebird Identification, March 11th, taught by Georgann Schmalz, AAS’ resident ornithologist, at The Blue Heron Nature Preserve, 2PM-4PM, and coastal field trips and class session in May. Highlights will be a Friday evening class taught by Tim Keyes, Wildlife Biologist for DNR, a Saturday boat trip into St. Catherine’s Sound, (weather permitting), a Sunday morning romp around Jekyll Island with Lydia Thompson, coastal naturalist and a field trip to Harris Neck WR. There will be two full days of birding on May 12th and May 13th.

Participants will be limited to 14. To register, download a registration form and send your completed form with payment to the AAS office at 4055 Roswell Rd., Atlanta, GA 30342. Payment confirms your registration.

Trip cost:

$225 person;
$250 for non-members.
Does not include food and lodging.
