Armchair Activist

Are you interested enough in birds to be concerned with their survival and well being?

At the same time you may have very little time to devote to an environmental or conservation program that seeks to help them. Keeping up with committee meetings, legislation, and issues may not be the way you want to spend your spare time. Yet you are interested in endangered species, ancient forests, wetland destruction and runaway development.

Participation in the Armchair Activist may be the answer! We do the legwork for you, present the issue, and provide a quick, easy method for taking action.

The Armchair Activist is a critical piece of our grassroots program. There is nothing like a torrent of mail or email to make a legislator think twice about opposing environmentally concerned constituents on an issue. A strong grassroots campaign can influence even the most recalcitrant lawmakers. With the Armchair Activist, the collected efforts of thousands of concerned citizens like you are focused on an important issue at a critical moment.

When action is needed (12-24 times a year), we decide which legislative members to target. We then carefully craft the letter to provide what you need: a concise description of the problem; when to send it; what arguments to make in your letters; the necessary names and addresses, and a sample letter for you to personalize and rewrite. If you agree with the issue and act upon it, fine! If not, just don't send the letter.

To join the Armchair Activist all you need to do is: Email your name, address, and email address to our Armchair Activist Coordinator.
